What tools do you use?

I primarily use an 11-inch iPad Pro. I also use a 16-inch Wacom Cintiq Pen Display.

What software do you use?

Procreate and Photoshop. 

What tools do you recommend for beginner artists?

As a new artist, you can’t go wrong with the classic pencil and paper!  Traditional art is where most, if not all, artists start, and you can make great art with simple materials.

What tools do you recommend for beginner digital artists?

If you’re looking to get started in digital art, I recommend Wacom Intuos or Wacom One tablet.

I started with a small Wacom Intuos Comic and used it from middle school to midway through college before I started using the more expensive, large Wacom Intuos graphics tablets. The rule of thumb is to start small and affordable! iPads are great alternatives to Wacom products, and there are other brands, such as Huion and XP Pen, that you can explore. 

What software do you recommend for beginner artists?

There is plenty of software out there for you to try. Most require subscriptions, but there are a few that are free or affordable. Sketchbook Pro was my first drawing software before I learned the Adobe Creative Cloud products.

Free recommendations:

  • Krita – Available on Desktop for Mac, Windows & Linux computers

 Paid recommendations:

  • Procreate – Available on iPad, and has a one-time payment of $12.99 USD
  • Sketchbook Pro – Available on Desktop for Mac & Windows computers with a one-time payment of $20.00 USD.
  • Clip Studio Paint – Available on iPad/Tablet devices and  Desktop computers and has various one-time payment and subscription options.

Yes, I do commissions and freelance work. Beecause I work full-time, I only take on work as my schedule allows.
